Marine deck machinery for Greek shipyards and owners

Wantong Hellas supplies the deck of the ship. We are the Greek distributor for Zhejiang Wantong Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of marine deck machinery and SOLAS life-saving equipment, recognised as a national high and new technology enterprise. The plan above is how we work: twelve positions on a working vessel, each one equipment we select, import, deliver to the yard and commission. One order for the whole deck

Deck machinery bought piecemeal arrives with mismatched hydraulics, three sets of drawings for class approval and nobody to call when a winch will not hold. Windlasses, mooring winches, capstans, engineering and towing winches, hydraulic cranes, hatch covers, steering gear, power packs and life-saving equipment all come from one factory, on one order, with one point of contact from selection through to spares. Certification is CCS as standard, with ZC, BV, GL, NK, ABS, DNV and RINA certificates available on request, and quality management run to ISO 9001:2016.

Built and tested in Taizhou

The works occupy more than 33,000 square metres in the Binhai Industrial Area at Taizhou, with 220 people across machining, welding, assembly and test. For a buyer the test floor is the part that counts: chain tension from 20 to 4,000 kN, anchor chain from ø22 to ø100 mm, steering gear hydraulic jacking within 1,000 kN·m, crane overturning moment up to 2,100 TM. Equipment is proved on those rigs and leaves with its certificate rather than a promise.

Working with Greek yards and owners

Most enquiries reach us as one line in a specification and a date. We read the specification, propose the model, supply drawings for class approval, quote a price delivered to the yard and attend on board for commissioning. Retrofit work is the same conversation in reverse: what is fitted now, what failed, and what will land on the existing foundation.

What we need to quote

Vessel type and size, the class society, and the duty in its own units: chain diameter and grade for a windlass, brake holding load for a mooring winch, safe working load at outreach for a crane, rudder torque and hard-over time for steering gear. For a retrofit, the foundation or coaming drawing. Then the delivery yard and the date you need it alongside.

The works

Zhejiang Wantong Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. designs, builds, sells and services marine deck machinery from the Taizhou Economic Development Zone on the east coast of Zhejiang. The works cover more than 33,000 square metres, carry fixed assets of 150 million yuan and employ 220 people, among them three engineers holding senior professional titles and eight at intermediate level.

Machining, welding, assembly and load testing are all done on one site at No. 680 Haichang Road, Binhai Industrial Area. Nothing goes out to subcontract and back, which is why a unit can be witnessed on test before it ships. Wantong Hellas holds the distribution for Greece: selection, import, delivery to the yard and service through a single contact.

The group behind the deck

Deck machinery is one part of a group that also builds generating sets, engines and gearboxes, pressure vessels and fishing vessel gear. For a yard that matters in practice: several supply items can come through the same channel, on the same drawings and with the same after-sales route.

After-sales, and who answers

Ship service is a moving target: the vessel that needs a part is rarely where the equipment was built. The manufacturer runs a customer service centre with regional offices covering the Zhejiang coast from Ningbo, Shandong and Liaoning, the Yangtze from Wuhu and Chongqing, Jiangsu from Yangzhou, and Guangdong with Fujian, plus a service agreement with KPM Power Technology (China) for attendance outside those regions. In Greece the first call is ours: we hold the enquiry, the drawings and the order, and we bring the factory in when the answer has to come from the works.

Test centre

The factory's fishing vessel deck machinery test centre operates under the supervision of the Zhejiang Provincial Fisheries Bureau. It tests deck machinery, reviews technical drawings and is authorised to issue certificates, working from a purpose-built 2,000 square metre test hall. For a buyer that is the difference between a rated figure and a proved one: the machine on order is pulled, jacked or load-moment tested here, and the certificate travels with it.

The works can supply marine product certificates from ZC, CCS, BV, GL, NK, ABS, DNV and RINA, holds technical cooperation agreements with ship design institutes, and runs its quality management to ISO 9001:2016. Which society applies is decided by your vessel, not by us: tell us who classes her and we confirm the certificate before the order is placed.

Vessel names, yards and dates are not published with them, so we do not invent any: what each plate shows is the equipment in place, and the note tells you what to look at. Enquiry

Send the vessel, the duty and the class society and you get back a selection, a drawing and a lead time. If you are replacing a unit that failed, add what is fitted now and a photograph of the foundation — that usually settles the model in one exchange.
